Paseo

Finally tried the infamous Paseo! I went to the Ballard location on a sunny WA day a few days ago.

I ordered the Caribbean Roast, which is the most popular sandwich according to the menu. It definitely did not disappoint!

Don't forget they take cash only!

Portland Jan. 2013

About two weekends ago, my boyfriend & I went to Portland, OR for our annual trip for his birthday. It's only the 2nd year we've done this, but from the looks of it, it probably will be a tradition! Or at least we will try to make it a yearly tradition.

I purchased a 1-night stay at Hotel Fifty through hotels.com since it was having a sale (little did I know that it Hotel Fifty would be on groupon.com a couple weeks later...)

Here are some pictures of our lovely room:

I thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

Throughout the trip, we shopped, went to the Blazers vs. Clippers basketball game, and of course...ATE!

Here are is a small food photo journal from the weekend:

Chocolate Pancakes @ Mother's Bistro & Bar. Possibly my favorite portland restaurant of the weekend!

Happy Hour food & drinks at H50 Bistro & Bar (Located in our hotel)

Milk Chocolate Mayan Mocha from Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe (Located in Pioneer  Place)

@ Nordstrom Cafe

A portland trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to Voodoo Donuts!
Some of the donuts I got were the bacon maple bars, old dirty bastard, captain o' captain, dirty snowball and the neopolitan.

Canton Wonton House

I went to Chinatown last weekend for the Chinatown/International District Night-Market. I won't go into much detail with that besides the fact that I was unimpressed.

I searched around the market to find something to eat, but many restaurants in Chinatown seemed more appetizing.

We all decided to try one of my close friend's favorite restaurant, Canton Wonton House. I finally understood the hype of this place!

I ordered the original noodles, with Wonton and beef briskets (I think...). Their noodles are homemade and tasty. The beef was perfectly tender, but the wontons are the stars of the dish. We also ordered some chinese doughnuts and bokchoy. Everything ordered was amazing.

Lately, I have been craving this soup. I will be sure to get some sooner than later!

Ballard Seafood Festival

Last week my girlfriends and I were planning to hang out. However, it took ages to decide where to go and what to do. We always do that... we're indecisive girls! I suggested the typical downtown or waterfront stroll. That suggestion didn't get too much excitement--maybe it's because we always go around there area. So I thought of neighborhoods in Seattle that I've been meaning to explore more. I threw out Ballard because I am rarely there, but the times I have been were lovely. One of my friends, Annie, is from the area so I asked her if there's anything fun to do there. She excitedly replied "Seafood fest. is happening!"

Anyways... enough with my intro story. We decided to go hit up the Seafood Festival in Ballard. Neither of my friends, besides Annie, knew there was such thing. But I am sure glad we went because it was fun! I am absolutely LOVE "The Bite of Seattle" which is happening this weekend, so I was to find out there's another food festival near the area, but in a smaller scale.

There were an abundance of food carts/trucks around  Market Street & Ballard Avenue. Of course here were loads of seafood carts, however there were plenty of other options such as asian food and desserts. However I was determined to eat at one of the seafood carts for the sake of the festival name!

After scanning most of the food carts, I decided to go for either scallops or crab cakes. Unfortunately the scallops line was lengthy, and I was famished. I opted out for a crab cake plate (shown)

It came with two crab cakes, a shrimp salad and garlic bread for ...$8? My mind is blanking but that sounds about right. I've had better crab cakes, but nonetheless it was still delicious! My friends and I got a variety of food at the festival-- scallops, crab melts, fish tacos, etc.

After having a meal, I was on the hunt for something sweet. I had my eyes on a few carts/booths but I got sucked into this....

Yep...deep fried candy bars! I am slightly ashamed, I have to admit. But I wanted to try it for myself. I ordered the deep fried Reeses peanut butter cup. It was alright. I wish I had gone for the Oreos because my friends Amanda & Michelle ordered that, and it looked better than mine.

For now, I think I will pass on deep fried candy bars for awhile. But I definitely won't pass for any seafood! I have been craving all sorts of seafood lately because of this festival.
I am exceptionally excited for more food festivals here in the Seattle area. This weekend is The Bite of Seattle. I plan to go this Sunday if I am feeling better from a sickness.

Pictures of my friends & I.
Too bad the sun got in the way. It would've been a great picture!
Overall Ballard Seafood Festival was a wonderful experience. I love the Ballard area, seafood and friends. So it was a perfect day.

Froyo Season

Who am I kidding? Every season is Froyo season! But with the sun shining and temperatures rising, Froyo (frozen yogurt) is always a go-to dessert/snack to cool off with!

My favorite froyo places are self-serve. You get to choose your own flavors and toppings--what's not to love about that?!

Here are some pictures of my recent froyo purchases. I tend to get the same flavors & toppings...
